A day at KapiteinLabs!

One word to describe our In-House Day at the KapiteinLabs headquarters? That would be… a success! Last week, all roads led to De Koepel in Haarlem, where we spent an afternoon of learning and connecting with the KL team!

First Impressions?
From the moment we were introduced to KapiteinLabs’ work, it was clear that their mission resonated strongly with our students. The company’s focus on improving existing technology rather than starting from scratch proves that meaningful innovation often lies in making things smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable. On top of that, the environmental impact and real-world applications especially stood out as motivating factors.

KapiteinLabs in Three Words
When asked to describe KapiteinLabs briefly, we didn’t hesitate: innovative, progressive, and technology-driven. The company was seen as a place where ambitious ideas meet practical execution, a combination that strongly appealed to our expectations and interest in seeing how theory can translate into impact.

What Stayed With Us
Beyond the technical discussions, what left the biggest impression was the people behind the technology. Students highlighted the open atmosphere and the sense that everyone at KapiteinLabs is working toward a shared goal. The visit felt less like a formal company tour and more like stepping into a collaborative environment where enthusiasm for the work is genuinely visible.

The KapiteinLabs Sandwich Test
Naturally, we had some “burning” questions too, like “What kind of sandwich would KapiteinLabs be?”. Many ideas were put on the table, but we ultimately imagined something familiar at its core with an unexpected twist: creative ingredients, bold flavours, and one memorable suggestion inspired by the classic combination of pizza and beer. Engineering insight, but make it lunch.

And the Anthem?
The hypothetical company soundtrack ranged from energetic innovation vibes to scientific reflection, and even a proposal for a brass-band-style anthem performed together every morning. While implementation details remain undecided, the idea captured how our members perceived KapiteinLabs: collaborative, energetic, and not afraid to do things a little differently.

Now, if you would like to become part of the KL team and challenge yourselves at the intersection of innovation and sustainability, there are currently many internship opportunities waiting for you, such as:

Mechanical Engineering Intern
